Plastic Stretch Wrap: A Valuable Addition On Moving Day For These Jobs
In the days leading up to a move, you should make sure that you have a selection of moving supplies that will make life easier. Boxes and bubble wrap are likely atop this list, but you should also make sure that you avail yourself of a roll of plastic stretch wrap. This product isn't technically sticky; instead, it clings to itself solidly, making it a valuable ally for wrapping a long list of items from your home in advance of the move. Here are a number of things that you'll be moving that are perfect for securing with plastic stretch wrap.
Curtain Rods
If you're taking the home's curtain rods with you, you don't want them rattling around in the back of the moving truck and potentially getting dented or scratched. The simple solution is to gather all of them together and make several passes around them with your plastic stretch wrap. Keep some tension on the wrap as you use it, and you can be confident that the curtain rods will cling together in one solid, easy-to-move mass.
Foam Mattresses
A thin foam mattress is best to roll when you need to move it, but there's no need to fuss with trying to tie the roll tight with several pieces of string. Instead, get the foam mattress rolled as tightly as you can, and then make a pass of plastic stretch wrap at each end and another in the middle to hold the roll secure. If you're concerned about the foam getting dirty during the move, simply make additional passes with the plastic stretch wrap until all the foam is protected.
Area Rugs
Area rugs can be a hassle to move, given their large size and heavy nature. The job, however, gets much easier when you have plastic stretch wrap on your side. Simply stack a few rugs together, roll them tightly and secure them with the plastic wrap. If you have bath mats, door mats and any other mats, you can stack them on the rugs before rolling everything, too.
Sports Equipment
If any members of your family are avid athletes, you'll likely have a selection of sports equipment that isn't conducive to packing in boxes. Whether it's hockey sticks, baseball bats, tennis rackets or other such items, group them together and wrap them up with your plastic stretch wrap. This will allow you to carry all these items in one armload, instead of making multiple trips to load and unload them all.
